My Shield by Lacie Clark, Corresponding Secretary 2021-22

“For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling that I may walk before God in the light of the living?” – Psalm 56:13

Life gets hard sometimes. You get weary from your battles and you just want to lay down and give up. I have fallen many times. I’ve sometimes sat down and decided I’m done, the enemy can have me, I’m tired of fighting. But God always comes through for me during those times. I imagine God as a shield over me during those times and he’s on the outside fighting the enemies away while I’m crying my eyes out in the shield. But God has delivered me from the dark. He has saved me from the dark and pulled me out with His own life. So why can’t he pull me out of those times too? God never promised me life would be easy. He never said “Lacie, you will face no battles in this world and you will always be happy.” He did promise me He would be with me though. He said “Lacie, you will face MANY battles in this world because you are not of this world, but during all those times, I will be with you and fighting with you.” And during those times when I feel like everything is coming after me God is right outside my shield fighting to keep me away from the enemy.
